Walker Lincoln have supplied many "platefields" over the years, to racing teams and automotive manufacturers alike. Pictured below is an installation of 6 off 3mx 2m x 200mm t-slot plates, with 24mm t-slots at 200mm centres, at an automotive R&D facility in Newton Aycliffe, UK.

Smaller installations in confined spaces can be tackled using smaller plates connected together, such as the 3m x 1m x 200mm plate below, which is exactly the same pattern as those pictured above.
